The first Sunday of every month offers free admission at both the Museum of Ventura County (in Ventura) and the Agriculture Museum (in Santa Paula). In addition to gallery exhibitions, look for additional activities for the entire family. Activities may include arts and crafts or live performances that relate to our current exhibits. Free Sunday activities are recommended for children 6 years and older. Veterans for Peace is an educational and humanitarian non-profit organization dedicated to the abolishment of war. The Ventura County Chapter (VCVFP, chapter 112) was founded in August 2004. Chapter 112 has as a primary project the formidable educational task of introducing and disclosing military alternatives to local area high school youth. The chapter proudly funds annual high school scholarships to participating seniors.

Los Angeles County Community Choice Energy (LACCE) has invited Ventura County and its ten cities to join the launch of their CCE on January 1, 2018.

City Council will meet to hear input on the proposed draft district maps and to discuss which districts will have elections in 2018 and which in 2020. CAUSE has submitted a map and has asked community members to show up and voice support for their proposal.

Ventura County Legal Aid, Inc. is here to help on the first and third Tuesdays of the month 4 to 7 p.m.at the Ventura County Law Library. Last walk-ins accepted at 6:15. Attorneys are available during these times on a first-come, first-served basis, to provide free legal advice to those who qualify based on income.
December 7 @ 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
Grab a lunch and head on over to the Museum on Thursdays between 11:30 and 1:30 for music and free entry to the galleries. Enjoy your lunch break in one of our colorful patio chairs while you listen to local musicians, then take a stroll through the galleries. Entrance is free. Feel free to tip the musicians!

Protest at a Verizon store against the rollback of net neutrality protections. Meet us at the intersection of Westlake Blvd & Thousand Oaks Blvd Join a coalition of Team Internet members at the protest. Internet users outraged by top Verizon lawyer turned FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s plan to gut net neutrality are planning to protest at Verizon retail stores across the country on Thursday, December 7th, one week before an expected vote at the FCC.

Momentum for bail reform is gaining steam both here in California and throughout the country for one simple reason: the current system isn’t working. Even just a few days in jail can lead to someone losing their job, losing child custody, and being evicted, yet people are being held in jail for days, weeks, and even months while awaiting trial. The Problem Money bail has created a two-tiered system of justice in California – one for the rich, and one for everyone else.

Hosted by The Girls Girl Club We’ll be screening Beyonce’s “Lemonade: The Visual Album”. This work is an emotional catharsis and contemplates themes of love, adultery, trust, and feminism. While “Lemonade” does not have a formal rating, we consider it to be rated R. Not recommended for children under 13.

It’s the Second Saturday of the month, that means it’s time for the VC Art Market to set up shop @ Figueroa Plaza and Main Street. Right next to Mission Park in beautiful downtown Ventura. Come on down Saturday from 10am-4pm. The VC Art Market is Ventura’s first and only outdoor art gallery. Each month we feature 15+ of Ventura’s local, urban artists of all mediums and genres. You will not want to miss the September VC Art Market.

Mission of the Ventura Peace and Justice Network Calendar
The Solidarity Ventura County Calendar publicizes critical information on actions, events, and group meetings. It is a progressive grassroots tool to complement local direct action. Our organization will facilitate communication and connection between activists, interested community members, and local organizations; and will become an informed and mobilized county-wide base, ready to stand by our community.
