Enough! Stop School Shootings!
March 14 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
We have been issued a challenge. By our schoolchildren.
David Hogg, a student who survived the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, issued a call to action that we cannot fail to answer. “We’re children, you are the adults,” he stated while urging us all to tell lawmakers to take action to prevent more school shootings.
Cameron Kasky, another student survivor of the shooting, promised that his generation would not stand for continuing gun violence “our politicians abandoned us by failing to keep guns out of schools. But this time, my classmates and I are going to hold them to account. This time we are going to pressure them to take action.”
Students and educators are planning school walk-outs on various dates in March and April. We will stand in solidarity with all such efforts; however, it is incumbent upon us to be adults and raise our voices to say ENOUGH!
We cannot tolerate unlimited gun sales which recklessly endanger lives. The time has come for us to defeat the NRA’s sway over our government. We will demand change that will save lives. On March 14th we will stand together in demonstration that NO GENERATION of Americans will tolerate continued governmental inaction on this issue. We are at a tipping point, and we will not back down now!
Our mission is perfectly stated at marchforourlives.com:
“Not one more. We cannot allow one more child to be shot at school. We cannot allow one more teacher to make a choice to jump in front of a firing assault rifle to save the lives of students. We cannot allow one more family to wait for a call or text that never comes. Our schools are unsafe. Our children and teachers are dying. We must make it our top priority to save these lives.”
So start making your signs and mark your calendars. Meet us at the Ventura County Government Center on March 14 between 4-6 PM. Bring a friend and bring your kids. Remember we are fueled by love of country, so carry a sign or a flag. We follow all laws. Park in adjacent parking lots or side streets.
