“A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith kicks off our NEW Book Club lineup. Stay tuned for changes to our reading list!
This is the coming of age story of Francie Nolan, a young girl growing up in poverty in the Brooklyn suburb of Williamsburg. What Francie and her family lack in affluence, Francie makes up for in spirit.
All of our book club meetings are free, but snacks are always welcome!
Look for used copies of books from our list at our local book stores, or on the Thriftbooks app.
Please contact the organizer for details.
The Girls Girl Club is an inclusive community that empowers individuals by fostering strength and well-being through education, creativity, and community engagement.
At the Girls Girl Club we believe that people are valuable because of their differences. Each of us has something to share as well as something to learn. The Girls Girl culture is one of respect and equality without judgement. We welcome all people regardless of gender, age, race, education or socioeconomic status.
Strength begins within ourselves and radiates throughout the community.
Together, we can make a stronger us.
Our Pledge to Live By
As a member of the Girls Girl Club, I pledge to always support other women and come to their aid when able, setting aside jealousy, fear, and pettiness. I pledge to do the best with what I have and to take responsibility for my actions and attitude. Most importantly, I pledge to love myself, as I am.
Instructions for using the calendar:
– Click on any event on the Calendar to see details about that event, including (when possible) a link to the original announcement.
– Clicking on the “Find Events” or “Narrow Your Search Results” boxes, or on the colored categories, are all different ways to help you find events you might be interested in. Note you can use categories to search by event type and tags to search by issue/topic.
– Click on the “View As” box to toggle between Month, Week, Day, or List views (“Month” and “List” tend to be the most useful).
Important disclaimers: This calendar is currently maintained by only a few individuals, and the events listed are generally based on what we have been able to gather off the internet. It is strongly recommended that you contact the individual organizations to confirm that details of their events (date, time, location, etc.) are correct before attending.
We make every effort to update the calendar weekly, but given our time constraints, this doesn’t always happen. If you want to help out in any way, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks!
