Lindsey Boubel and her basset hound George will visit the Ojai Library every second and fourth Wednesday from 3 to 4 p.m. George is a certified therapy dog and will be available for children to read to as part of our Paws for Reading program.

Paws for Reading is a program that has been successfully implemented at other Ventura County Library locations. When children read aloud to dogs they can feel more comfortable because there is no pressure or fear of getting it wrong. It is a safe place for them to practice with a friendly and non-judgmental partner.

George is a four-year-old basset hound with long ears, polka dots on his feet and belly, and a great sense of smell. He lives in Ojai with his human family and enjoys taking walks to the park for naps in the sun. George has been certified as a therapy pet by the Love on a Leash organization, and is calm and gentle and loves to be petted.

This program is for any child who is learning to read, or who would enjoy reading to a dog who loves to hear stories!

This event is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact Laura Pendleton, Youth Librarian, at (805) 646-6019.

The Ojai Library is located at 111 East Ojai Avenue in Ojai, CA. Hours of service are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday
