Pride Prom of Ventura 2018: P-O-P!
Join us on June 15th, 2018 to celebrate diversity and equality at The Majestic Ventura Theater for our annual Pride Prom of Ventura!
Pride Prom of Ventura is a LGBTIQQA+ oriented dance that aims to promote individuality, acceptance, and a sense of belonging among ALL orientations and gender identities.
Pride Prom of Ventura is produced by Rainbow Umbrella, a non-profit organization and youth group that provides a community and safe-space for all LGBT+ youth and their allies. This event serves as Rainbow Umbrella’s major annual fundraiser and all of the proceeds go directly to help fund activities and other initiatives for the non-profit youth group. With the help of Pride Prom of Ventura’s fundraising, Rainbow Umbrella has secured a permanent meeting place for local LGBTQ+ and gender-variant youth at the brand-new LGBTQ+ Community Resource Center!
If you would like to donate directly you can do so here:
Just specify that the donation is for Pride Prom of Ventura!

Q: Is this event safe and appropriate for young High-School students and late Middle-Schoolers?
A: Yes, the age range for this event is about 13-23, the older portion being predominantly young college students who are apart of or are supportive of the LGBT community. There will be strict security as well as an good amount of adult community-leaders (teachers, therapists, non-profit leaders etc) chaperones to ensure your child’s safety. There is a zero-tolerance policy on recreational drugs and alcohol and all of the alcohol taps at the Majestic Ventura Theater will not be in service and will be put away the night of this event. Safety and order is our number one concern, so rest assured that everyone is in good hands. 🙂
Q: I am straight but my queer/LGBT friends want me to go to Pride Prom with them. May I still attend?
A: Yes, if you are straight you can come! This is an inclusive event which means all orientations and identities may attend! I can assure you that you will not be the only ally there!
Q: I love the queer/LGBT community, but I am straight and I want to take my friend/significant other that is the opposite gender of me to Pride Prom. May I still attend?
A: Yes, you both may attend! We do not discriminate! You do not even need to bring a date if you prefer to work alone! Our community never achieved anything by turning away our allies.
Q: Can I bring alcohol or drugs for recreational use?
A: NO. There are no exceptions to this rule and anyone who is suspected to be under the influence or sneaking in drugs or alcohol will be escorted off of the premises and will not be allowed to return this year and will be banned from future events indefinitely.
Q: I plan on bringing a huge lump of cash and a ton of expensive valuables to Pride Prom. Will there be some kind of security system in place so I know my valuables are protected?
A: Personal belongings will have STRICT security supervision with a number system to avoid theft. We suggest that you leave expensive belongings at home in order to avoid the slightest risk or theft. Rainbow Umbrella is not responsible for any lost or damaged items.
Q: I do not live in Ventura County, nor do I attend a school in Ventura County. May I still attend?
A: Whether you go to Buena High School, Foothill Tech. High School, Ventura High School, El Camino High School or any school outside of Ventura or Ventura County, you are more than welcome to come! This is not limited to one area or school. Everyone is allowed to come and celebrate, so long as you are within the age requirements! You are welcome to come with a partner, a friend, a stranger, or even a large group! Young college students are also encouraged to attend.
Q: Are there bathrooms at this venue?
A: Yes! There are restrooms and they will be converted into gender-neutral restrooms for this event!
Over 450 people attended Pride Prom of Ventura 2017 and we are hoping for an even bigger turnout this year! Don’t miss out one this one! 😀
